Glacier x Polare Hash Coins Reviewed: Old School Hashish Makes a Comeback in Michigan

Glacier x Polare Hash Coins Reviewed: Old School Hashish Makes a Comeback in Michigan

Old school hash is back on Michigan dispensary shelves, and Glacier Cannabis is leading the charge. The reception of our new Glacier Extracts collab with Polare making these Full Term Hashish Coins has been absolutely amazing!

Available in Rainbow Unicorn or Sweet Fumez strains, these brand new innovative Nepalese-style hash coins were recently put to the test in a head-to-head review by award-winning journalist Kyle Kaminski at The ‘Gander Newsroom, one of Michigan’s most respected independent news outlets. The results were tremendous!

Old-school hash is making a comeback in Michigan. We put two versions to the test. – Kyle Kaminski (gandernewsroom.com)

Both types of hash coins weigh 2 grams and Kaminski picked up a package of the Rainbow Unicorn variety from Herbana in Lansing. He tested them alongside a similar competing temple ball/temple coin hash product from another Michigan brand. Yeah! Science! 💯 His full review is worth reading, but we wanted to break down the highlights for anyone curious about what traditional pressed hash looks like in Michigan’s modern cannabis market.

The ‘Gander Michiganja Report

We’re so proud to announce that Kyle praised our hash coin format for being cleaner, easier to handle, and more consistent than the temple ball he tested alongside it.

Glacier was also more cost effective at $40/2g whereas our competitor was at $27 per gram! 😱💸

The competing product had also melted into a puddle inside its jar after sitting on a dispensary shelf (yikes!) while the Glacier hash coin was ready to use right out of the package. No dab tools needed, no prying product loose.

Super stable! Just break off a piece, drop it on a bowl, and light up. 🔥 You can’t say that about every extract on the market and it shows here today. That’s the Glacier difference.

“The Glacier hash coin, on the other hand, felt cleaner, easier to handle, and more consistent. The brighter effects also made it a better daytime companion.” – Kyle Kaminski (gandernewsroom.com)

On the experience itself, the Rainbow Unicorn hash coin delivered what Kaminski described as a brighter, more energetic high that made for a perfect Saturday morning session. He noted that even a tiny crumble of hash noticeably changed the entire character of his bowl, proving that a little goes a long way when the product is made right.

🏆 We love to hear that! Glacier never sacrifices potency for stability; you get the best of both worlds when your team truly has expertise in cultivation.

Beyond the product, Kaminski acknowledged Glacier Cannabis for building a reputation around affordable, reliable cannabis in Michigan. He called the hash coins a natural extension of that brand identity and said he’s been enjoying watching us push into new concentrate formats. He’s curious to see what comes next and we appreciate that excitement.

You can always count on Glacier to keep it potent, affordable, and frosty.

What Are Hash Coins and How Do You Smoke Them?

For anyone new to traditional hash, hash coins are a form of cannabis concentrate made from dried trichomes collected from cured flower and pressed together using heat. The technique traces back centuries to regions like Nepal, Afghanistan, Morocco, and Pakistan, where pressed hash was one of the earliest ways people consumed concentrated cannabis resin.

We paired up again with the team over at Pelle Polare for this amazing collaboration. When you see Polare and Glacier get together, you know that you’re in for some seriously amazing extracts! Glacier’s Nepalese hash follows that same tradition and allows you to connect with some of the ancient ways cannabis has been cultivated and enjoyed for centuries (if not millenia!).

Each coin is pressed into a flat disc, roughly the size of a large coin, making it easy to handle and portion. The format is designed to be practical. Unlike temple balls or loose bubble hash, the flat shape stays put and breaks apart cleanly.

How to smoke hash coins is straightforward. Crumble a small piece off the disc, place it on top of a bowl of ground flower, and take slow, steady draws. The hash will soften and melt into the flower as it heats, adding potency and flavor without overpowering the base strain. You can also break small pieces into a joint or blunt for a similar effect. A single 2g package stretches across multiple sessions, which makes this one of the more cost-effective ways to elevate your smoke.

Why Old School Hash Is Trending in Michigan

Michigan’s cannabis concentrate market has been dominated by live resin, rosin, and distillate for the past several years. But in 2026, traditional hash is making a real comeback.

Kaminski’s article at The ‘Gander called it directly: old school hash is popping up on more Michigan dispensary menus as brands look to revive the formats that shaped cannabis culture long before legalization.

The timing matters too. With Hash Bash 2026 coming up on April 4 in Ann Arbor, interest in hash products across the state is climbing. Whether it’s pressed hash coins, temple balls, bubble hash, or solventless rosin, Michigan consumers are looking for concentrates that connect them to the roots of the plant. Glacier’s approach fits right into that conversation: craft cannabis made in Michigan, built on tradition, and priced so it’s accessible to everyone.

Glacier’s Growing Concentrate Lineup

These are just one piece of the picture. Earlier this year we launched a full wave of new concentrate products alongside our Nepalese hash, including AIO Disposable Vapes and 510 Threaded Vapes in both Live Resin, Live Rosin; plus 1g and 3.5g baller jars of both Live Resin and Live Rosin, Cured Extracts, and more!

We also just expanded our vape lineup with several strain combos. Click here to learn more about the new Glacier Vape Combos.

Each format is built around the same values that drive everything we do at Glacier: clean cultivation, consistent quality, and real strain integrity across every product that leaves our facility. For anyone searching for the best hash in Michigan or looking to try pressed hash for the first time, Glacier hash coins are a great place to start. The format is approachable, the price is right, and the results speak for themselves.
