Michigan’s cannabis industry is entering a critical chapter. After years of exponential growth, the market now faces a perfect storm: crashing prices, rising illicit competition, and outdated policy frameworks threatening its future.
At Glacier Cannabis, we’re committed not only to premium hand-trimmed flower—but also to advocating for a stable, fair, and transparent industry in our home state.

A Warning from the Cannabis Regulatory Agency
During an April 2025 hearing, CRA Director Brian Hanna delivered a clear message: without swift legislative action, Michigan’s cannabis industry may face a collapse driven by:
- Wholesale flower prices dropping below $65/oz
- Illicit market activity undercutting licensed operators
- Unregulated hemp-derived THC flooding the shelves
“You’re going to see consolidation. You’re going to see small businesses going out of business… social equity businesses suffer.” – Brian Hanna, CRA
The Industry Pushes Back
In response, businesses and associations are calling for three major reforms:
➤ Temporary Moratorium on Grower Licenses
Oversupply continues to drive down prices. In Q1 alone, 28 new grow licenses were issued. A pause could help stabilize supply and demand.
➤ Regulation of Hemp-Derived THC
Unregulated hemp-based THC products are being sold online and in convenience stores without testing or age restrictions—jeopardizing public safety and fair competition.
➤ Easing Regulatory Burdens
Many licensed operators are being hit with excessive fines for minor infractions while illicit players face little consequence.

Michigan’s New Rulemaking Package
The state has introduced a comprehensive set of proposed rules to modernize the industry, including:
- Updated licensing frameworks
- Clearer enforcement policies
- Labeling revisions to distinguish hemp vs. cannabis products
- Improvements in product safety protocols
Glacier’s Stance
Glacier Cannabis supports these reforms and urges lawmakers to act swiftly. Michigan’s cannabis industry can thrive—but only if it protects those building it the right way.
Transparency, safety, and sustainability are non-negotiable values at Glacier. 💯
